ADOPT A HYDRANT FOR AMERICA’S 250th!

dsafsa

Did you know that in 1976, Woodstock celebrated America's Bicentennial by painting fire hydrants throughout town with patriotic designs?

Nearly 50 years later, we have an opportunity to revive that tradition and once again come together as a community to celebrate our nation's history while honoring a unique piece of Woodstock's own tradition.

As America prepares to celebrate its 250th Anniversary, the Town of Woodstock invites residents, families, businesses, organizations, and neighborhoods to join the fun by adopting and painting a fire hydrant in patriotic colors.

Use ONLY:
Dark Blue
Dark Red
White

All paint must be LATEX paint.

All designs MUST be patriotic, family-friendly, and respectful.

  • Find a hydrant
  • Contact the Town Office to register the location of your hydrant
  • Create a patriotic design
  • Complete your hydrant by July 4, 2026

After July 4th, residents and visitors will vote for their favorite design, and the winning hydrant will receive the Woodstock America 250 Best Painted Hydrant Award!

This project is more than a decorating contest. It is an opportunity to bring our community together, celebrate America's 250th Anniversary, and recreate a tradition that made Woodstock special during the Bicentennial celebration of 1976.

So help Woodstock celebrate America's 250th Anniversary!

Let's have some fun, get creative, and fill our town with patriotic pride once again.
